Covid-19 Omicron

The Prime Minister has made no mention of schools in his ‘Plan B’ statement last week, despite the fact that many schools are struggling with rising numbers of staff and pupil absence.

In the light of this the NEU has called for further mitigations in schools, which you can read here.

NEU Reps are advised to meet with headteachers to discuss what further measures can be taken in the next week to minimise the risk to staff and pupils.

Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any concerns or need advice.

Some reminders

Christmas treats: we will reimburse up to £40 if Reps want to buy some treats for the staffroom or an NEU meeting before the end of term.

All member pay briefing: the NEU will be conducting an important survey of members about action on pay in January.

We are holding an important briefing for all members on Monday 17th January and would like Reps to organise school group meetings in the same week.
