ATL + NUT
Combining the expertise and experience of both ATL and the NUT, we are an effective and powerful voice in education.
The National Education Union (NEU) is a trade union in the United Kingdom for school teachers, further education lecturers, education support staff and teaching assistants. It was formed by the merger of the National Union of Teachers and the Association of Teachers and Lecturers in 2017. With over 500,000 members, it is the largest education union in the UK.
Since its establishment in 1884, ATL has evolved into a modern union currently representing 170,000 members across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
Our members are teachers, supply teachers, heads, lecturers, managers and support staff in maintained and independent sector schools and colleges.
Following a merger with the Association of College Management in January 2011, ATL has developed AMiE, its leadership section, which provides bespoke materials, training courses and casework support for leadership members in schools and colleges.
Founded in 1871, the East London Teachers Association (ELTA) represents over 2,000 teachers in Tower Hamlets. We are one of 32 London associations belonging to the National Union of Teachers.
We want our members to feel informed and supported. On this website you will find copies of policies, news of campaigns and events.
We hold 10 General Members’ meetings a year to which all members are welcome. Refreshments and a creche are provided.
We also have a strong committee and we are happy to come in to schools to meet with members there.
